Statement

When I was a child in Maine I always set out knowing that I would find a treasure of some sort in the world that was the beach.  Always, never a doubt.

The same is true when I approach a blank canvas or paper with various mediums.  I’m searching for and finding what could be there.  My paintings are a search for what might emerge as I explore.

Motherwell, inspired by Miro, defines originality simply as what originates in ones own being.  To my mind this is a bow to the unconscious sensibility that searches for form in each of us.
